Is he wondering where is the endless Arctic Circle Nunavut summer sun
& my dear lady,
or that perfect site I claimed by flying 30’ up, then gliding,
warbling all the way, to the hummock below?
& where did the 100’s of other Lapland Longspurs go
(& how this so ISN’T the Great Plains)
& why am I w/ a hallelujah of Horned Larks (& maybe 2 Snow Buntings?)
methodically plucking seed from a stubble corn field in Ct?
caveat: When I find myself perseverating on Trump, rather than doing something to offset one of his actions (write a letter, make a call, speak up when a red-hatter spouts a conspiracy theory, donate to a group that’s suing to stop an action, etc) I switch to focusing on a new topic that puts me smack-dab in the present. Studying up on the Lapland Longspur did it for me today. (But, hmmm, I’ve GOT to find a juxtaposition for this species long hind toe, its “larkspur,”…doesn’t it seem to beg for a 420?)
(Kit prepared by a 6-year old, “just in case.”) Now to the 420-9-liner:
Tweets that look like he’s smashed the caps-lock key?
Doing harm (again) to the next generation?
Hunched over his hand-held device, foaming at the mouth.
(Hmm. Or was that Alec Baldwin?)
Action needed, people, to loose these surly bonds.
Like Francis (from Assisi?) said:
Do the necessary, then the possible, then we’re geared for the impossible.
Or the very difficult.
This needs a lock-picking kit mind-set not tweets
Crows while curious about glints in the grass, are not fooled.
Young crows may act, well, young, & appear to focus on shiny items,
but mature crows know what’s what.
When I heard a passing biker say
“this is no time to focus on shiny objects,”
it reminded me to focus: support wisdom,
give $ to them’s that’ll slow the hand of the unwise;
get the voters to the polls, be brave, speak truth to power.
Be like the crows.
The shiny object gambit is used by Trump. His tweet storms distract us from his outrageous acts. But I think the American people are too smart to stay numbed and distracted. Our press is not fake but it has been too gullible. We’ve got to be laser-like. For instance, each time Trump attacks a bedrock environmental protection, that attack needs countering in the courts, in Congress, and beyond. (See EDF.org and NRDC.org: every 8 days the latter sues the Administration, thereby at least staying his destructive power.)
