LIE:

“I think that measuring, with precision, human activity on the climate

is something very challenging to do

& there’s tremendous disagreement about the degree of impact.”

No, Scott Pruitt, it is EASY to measure & there is OVERWHELMING agreement.

Carbon Dioxide is the PRIMARY greenhouse gas contributing to climate change.

Earth’s temp has risen 2.0 degrees (F) since the late 19th century.

Your statement is a LIE.

TITLE: “Anyone who denies over a century’s worth of established science and basic facts is unqualified to be the administrator of the EPA. Now more than ever, the Senate needs to stand up to Scott Pruitt and his dangerous views.” (Sen. Schatz Climate Action Task Force co-chair)  Scott Pruitt’s “don’t know yet” claims are dangerous to the future of the Earth

  1. In 2009, the EPA said that greenhouse gases endanger both the public health and the public welfare of current and future generations. Think: not just a mountain of science on this finding, but an entire mountain range, contrary to what EPA head Scott Pruitt is spouting. Shame on him. Doesn’t he have children or grandchildren or young friends he hopes will live to be happy and healthy and full of breath? The burning of fossil fuels poses a real and present threat.

  2. I have decided that I’ll call demonstrably false statements “lies.” Simply restating Pruitt’s statements gives privilege to a lies that will lead to great harm. Thus my use of the actual word rather than a softer one such as “misstatement.”

  3. And, yes, dear readers, I am feeling emboldened. I go by my refrigerator door, look at those grandkids, growl, and immediately start to worry that I haven’t done anything as yet (this morning) to put a stick in the bicycle wheel of this new administration. No, I don’t think I’m engaging in hyperbole. I DO worry that the Earth my 12, 9, 7, 6, 5, and 4-year old will inhabit is in danger. AND!! I DO think something can be done about it.

PS And, yes, I admit something else: All the caps in the Trump Tweets have gotten to me.
