by a crowd of other White Men,

Mr Trump nixed international NCO’s health care to women

& then Mr Pence spoke to the Pro-Life Marchers to reaffirm his support for fetuses;

me too, BTW,

but (and it’s a big but) for decades this rabid support of the unborn

is not linked w/ equally rabid support for kid once born.

Trump’s anti-refugee order reminds me again that the Aylan Kurdis will not be safely

Trump has a checkered histotry on abortion. His words demonstrate that he saw the opportunity for votes and so became a pro-lifer late in the game (really, Patty, this is so not a game.) But he tweeted the Pro-Life marchers in lieu of showing up. Perhaps the man does have a sense of shame.

Explanations and Questions:

Executive action on Monday reinstating the so-called Mexico City Policy, which bars international non-governmental organizations that perform or promote abortions from receiving US government funding.

Marie Stopes is involved in the effort to help women in developing countries.
She says that Trump’s decision is catastrophic. It could lead to 6.5 million unintended pregnancies, 2.2 million abortions, 2.1 million unsafe abortions, and 21,700 maternal deaths.
Note to Trump publicists, surely even you can see the problem with the optics in the signing ceremony? And the timing? Holocaust Rememberance Day?

  1. Thank you for this most poignant post; the image of the young Syrian boy washed up on the beach breaks my heart and the monster that now occupies the White House, in the name of Abraham Lincoln’s Grand Old Party and in the name of the American people, is just fine with it. Although this child who had life, dreams, hopes and aspirations now knows no pain, we have to wonder how many more like him will have the same fate. We should be helping this poor people, instead we hinder and block them! Shame on us! What happened to the heart and spirit of we as a people who revere and hold high the sentiment represented by that great Lady in the Bay on Ellis Island?

      1. I believe that this country is full of big-hearted people; I include lots of people who for various reasons voted for this president. However, I think that many people figured he couldn’t or wouldn’t follow through with all of the wild things he said. But he is; so the ox is in the ditch and it’s up to the good people to figure out what to do. I think people will put their collective shoulders to the wheel. (Just to mix metaphors!)

  2. I think it’s time to Call the Halls (see to download) Emily Ellsworth has practical ideas on the best ways to speak truth to those in power. And it’s calling those offices. Scripts included. Also it’s time to SWINGLEFT as in to find your closest swing district to support, the idea being that we’ve got to take control of the House in 2018. I’ve downloaded Indivisible. It’s amazing. (

  3. Oh you have expressed so perfectly this issue. These people (such as Pence who has the audacity to show up at this rally bit not for the equality rally )are the same people who will abolish social programs such as Medicaid and planned parenthood, programs to help the poor and could care less what happens to that child once it is born, they don’t want to hear a bout the homeless, the starving! They will never be faced with this horror living off the backs of struggling taxpayers , unwilling to tax the wealthy .
