Did you know that an Italian monk-baker invented the pretzel?

He did, in 610, as a reward for children who learned their prayers.

He called the strips of baked dough, folded to resemble arms crossing the chest, pretiola, little rewards.

We’re still munching on his inspiration today. It’s the ultimate street food.

Happy National Pretzel Day, Everyone!

Don’t you love it when fashion, food, and fabulous come together? This classic Hollywood actress gets goofy and yet still manages to strike A Pose.  And even start a trend.

Remember Pretzel Logic? It’s vintage Steely Dan. A salty twisty mix of pop/rock and jazz.

They say the times are changing but I just don’t know
These things are gone forever
Over a long time ago, oh yeah

#TBT all the way, 1974. ( Have a listen. The lyrics are so strange, I’m not sure anyone understands the meaning. An example of pretzel logic, ya think?)

So. What do you associate with the crunch and fluff of a pretzel? I can almost taste the Bockbier, Weisswurst and dollop of sweet mustard ~ my favorite breakfast in Bavaria.

But here at home, these famous exclamations are making me thirsty. I’m just sayin’.
