I can’t eat this last butternut squash.

It reminds me of my four sisters.

We’re like butternuts.

Different sizes and shapes; tough on the outside;

wondrous on the insides; increasing in richness and color

the older we get.

And life’s mashed, roasted, toasted, and pureed us all a bit

differently.

But still–we’re a good source of nutrition for each other.

Keepers.

PS? BROTHERS? AS YOU CAN SEE, I HAVE TWO, AND I’M WORKING ON A 420 FOR THEM. AND! I HAVE LOVELY SISTERS-IN-LAW. STAY TUNED. I LOVE THEM ALL, BUT THE SISTERS DO REMIND ME OF BUTTERNUT SQUASHES.

  1. What a lovely way to describe your sisters, so descriptive, kind, loving. I enjoy reading your posts!! I am a high school (and still) friend of Susan’s.

    1. Hi!! Isn’t funny how something so different can align itself with something else. Really, a butternut squash pulls my sisters front and center for me in the dearest way. (I’m still a friend of Susan’s too. :)Lucky me.)
