Keep track of that late-winter,
snow-covered cornfield & judiciously-spread fresh manure
(judicious is key:
applied with care it won’t run off into a brook or well water)
Horned Larks (tundra-breeder) swoop in
& crawl over the frozen corn-stubble picking seeds from the spread.
It reminds me that good is gleaned from unlikely sources
& altho a scan of NYT, NPR, Al Jazeera, etc. sinks me into despair,
I will keep track.
