Thanks again to Mike Stafford for finding and sending me photos of the writings of 17-year old Patty. I love sifting through the litter of my past selves.

Barbara Leaming has a 10/14 Vanity Fair piece on Jackie that bears reading. As a teenager I know I wondered how she did it–be the balm for troubled waters. As a grown-up I realized that of course she was falling apart.

3 thoughts on “#TBT a photo of my 50 years ago Advance Magazine Salem High School description of Jackie Kennedy. I was 17 and thought of her as the epitome of grace under pressure, something I hadn’t witnessed before. Strength in the midst of tragedy. Now we know how traumatized she was.
