Here I am, in my child ‘safety seat’ ~ two hooks over the back of the front bench. Basic model, 1950s version, not even a fake steering wheel or a horn. And no belt. It raised me just enough for a perfect launch through the windshield.Scan 34Toni 9/11/14remember-9-11-ribbon-1

  1. Thank goodness your father was a safe driver, right?!!??! We’ve come a long way, baby, but is progress all it’s cracked up to be? The latest alarming news says even our trusty wallets are old and out (according to Apple). Just the way your baby seat faced forward, do we dare face the changes coming at us so fast? I know you embrace change. It must have been that old training to be the good girl sitting next to dad! Ah, memories. M.

      1. All our family photos were lost in a flood shortly before my Mom passed away. I still remember her sitting on the basement stairs looking at all our unpacked boxes floating, then sinking in the water. She was heartbroken. It wasn’t until years later I realized that she was watching all the memories we had together disappear and that there would be no new ones.

  2. Oh! I laughed out loud when I saw that picture…I didn’t even realize there were any type of car seats back when we were kids! I usually sat in my mom’s lap and sometimes if I threw a big enough fit, they would bring this little rocker I had and put it on the seat between my folks and I could ride along sitting in that. Can you just imagine?!?! Hahaha…

Thanks for all these memories you give me..
