Brown Thrashers are almost as hard to see as the progress in rolling out my affordable health care; but I remain hopeful. This law is a good thing. I only need to know one family for whom it’s a life or death matter to reassure me of such. For this 420 Character 9-Liner  I take my metaphors from the Brown Thrasher we spied in similar bracken that the rollout is tangled in.

Tricky business

health care for all,

even trickier than spying a Brown Thrasher

in jumbles of bittersweet and wild rose.

But I DO get to look into her staring yellow eyes

and mime the serious look denoted by the heavy, slightly down-curved bill,

So, encouraged, I attempt to get a glimpse of what affordable health care will look like,

but it’s hidden in a tangled mass of shrub-like rhetoric.

Tricky business.*

*BUT–and I have to asterisk this because I’ve reached my 420-character limit–but, I’m encouraged that the Brown Thrasher has the largest repertoire of any North American songbird (over a 1000 songs); so despite rumors of its demise, I’m hoping the affordable health care will go on to have more lives.
